The par-72 course opened in Elbert County in 1998. The course was built on the site of a 1,500-acre working cattle ranch. Construction on the course was originally completed in 1998, then the course and clubhouse underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in 2005.

The course is a regulation, 18-hole, par-72 championship venue which plays between 5,200 yards from the forward tees and 7,200 yards from the championship tees, thus offering a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. In addition, Spring Valley offers a full practice area complete with driving range, chipping green, and putting green.
The property includes a clubhouse, restaurant, maintenance facility, driving range, and pro shop. It also includes two undeveloped parcels zoned for commercial uses that are just shy of 10 acres.
